The Pears Family

Our connection with this family is that Mary Pears married Thomas Chambers (Ref. M7) at Sutton-on-the-Forest on 28.2.1825.  We know that Mary Chambers was buried at Bishopthorpe 18.6.1852, aged 57 and, thanks to Familysearch, we found a very suitable baptism at Sutton-on-the-Forest 5.1.1795 for Mary, daughter of Robert Pears and Grace.  Furthermore we came across a marriage at the same place 23.12.1793 of Robert Pears and Grace Chapman.  The name Pears is relatively uncommon, so we think we are looking at the same people and other family researchers agree.

Following a suggestion published research by distant cousins, we found a baptism of Robert Pears 14.1.1763 at Sutton-on-the Forest, son of Leonard Pearse who is said later in the register to be a farmer (later labourer).  There is a burial of Robert Pears at Sutton 28.3.1824 said to be aged 62, which fits in sufficiently.

According to other researchers, the above Leonard Pearse married, as his second wife, Mary Lovell at Sutton 15.1.1760, but so far we have not confirmed this.
