Elizabeth Hunter married George Cosser (see Ref S3) 24.4.1834 at Alnwick, both being of the parish. Elizabeth or, as several Censuses have her, Eliza, was born at Freemanhill, Alnwick 17.6.1810, the daughter of Anthony Hunter and his wife Isabella. We do not know the origins of either parent, nor when they married but we are aware of three children as follows:
Isabella Baptised 27.1.1808 at Birdhope Craig Presbyterian Church (which was in Redesdale, in Elsdon Parish). She died at her sister’s home, i.e. Home Farm, Belford Hall, 26.6.1865, said to be 56, and is buried in Belford Churchyard.
Elizabeth Born 17.6.1810 at Freemanhills, Alnwick and baptised 16.9.1810 at Pottersgate, Alnwick, Scotch Church. Married at Alnwick 24.4.1834 George Cosser, a farm steward. Died at Wooler 2.2.1891, aged 80. See Appendix 1 and main text of Cosser story (Ref. S3).
Thomas Born 6.5.13 at Evershields, Alnwick and baptised 21.6.1813 at Pottersgate, Alnwick, Scotch Church. Married in July 1843 at Alnwick Elizabeth Cockburn and had six children, three of whom died young. A cattle dealer and for more than 20 years the landlord of the Royal Oak, Alnwick. Their children were:
William Born 1843-44 at Shilbottle. Ag Lab then butcher. Last seen 1881 at Turks Head Yard, Alnwick with wife Ann or Annie nee Burnett whom he married at Alnwick 1874 Q1.
Isabella Born 1844-45 at Newton. Not seen after 1851.
Thomas Anthony Born Alnwick 1847 Q2. Died there 1848 Q1
Catherine Born Alnwick 1849 Q1. Di3ed there 1849 Q4
Thames Anthony Born Alnwick 1852 Q3. Died there 1852 Q4.
George Born Alnwick 16.12.1853. Joiner. Last seen 1891 at Pottersgate Place, Alnwick, with wife Jane nee Davison whom he married in Newcastle 1882 Q2 with three children and a visitor John William Buglass 11, scholar born Newcastle.
